About the product

Backaroo is a backup system for Apple Macs. Once you’ve downloaded Backaroo, you’ll see it’s actually just 2 simple apps: a ‘Sender’ and a ‘Receiver’. The Sender goes onto machines that will send backups, and the Receiver goes onto the machine that will store them. (Hint: they can work on the same machine). Senders transfer backups to the Receiver, and the Receiver displays the central status. It’s thousands of times more efficient than Time Machine in many situations. It has more features, it’s more configurable, more secure, and has wide OS compatibility.

For product owners

Promote Backaroo

Every listing gets one post to our X and Threads followers. It is seen once, then the traffic stops. Promotion keeps Backaroo in front of people instead.

  • Back in the X and Threads rotation. Backaroo gets posted again instead of once.
  • A promoted slot on the AppRater homepage, carrying a Promoted badge.
  • A labelled spot in the weekly email to AppRater subscribers, one promoted app per issue.
  • Stays on the first screen however old the listing is, while new submissions push everything else down.

Folder Snapshot Utility

version

Folder Snapshot Utility: for simple and efficient backup copies. Folder Snapshot Utility will make a copy of anything you throw at it. Any subsequent snapshot will happen much faster than a copy (up to thousands of times faster) and using much less disk space (perhaps even zero disk space, if nothing has changed). Therefore, Folder Snapshot Utility is a simple ‘version control’ tool, storing backups efficiently so you can ‘roll back’ if you need to. Take a snapshot quickly and easily by right-clicking and choosing ‘Take Snapshot’ from anywhere in the Finder, or simply drag-and-drop items onto the dock icon. You may opt to enter a comment as your snapshot is taken, which might serve as a useful reminder if you ever decide to restore the snapshot.

Don't Leave It!

app

Don’t Leave It! is the patent pending app that reminds you not to leave your location without bringing your personal items with you. No extra hardware required. We like to think of the app as creating an invisible perimeter around your stuff. When you cross that perimeter, the app reminds you to take whatever item you've chosen. We've packed the app with lots of features - and a lot of complex calculations and logic running behind the scenes. But the user experience is meant to be simple and useful: Just pick an item you don’t want to leave without (e.g.backpack or purse, etc.), set how far you can walk away before getting an alert (e.g. 60 steps), and Don’t Leave It! will remind you to bring your item if you walk away. Don’t Leave It! works even if you have no data or signal. If the app determines that GPS signal is too weak, it uses the pedometer instead - automatically. Even if your signal drops while a reminder is set, the app automatically recalculates the remaining distance based on available data sources and reminds you with an alarm when you walk too far away from your stuff. Stop leaving your personal items behind! No more walking away and forgetting to bring your stuff! No more lost and found!

Caret 2.0

writing

Caret is a Markdown editor that combines the aesthetics of prose editors with the productivity features of code editors - features like syntax assistance, multiple cursors, file manager, etc. It's based on a Markdown algorithm that the team wrote a while back and open-sourced at https://github.com/erusev/parsedown. We've been working on Caret full-time for almost 2 years. We released version 1.0 about a year ago and today we're excited to show you version 2.0.
