Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data AppRater handles, why it is used, who receives it, and the choices and rights available to you.

Effective and last updated: August 14, 2026

Who is responsible

AppRater operates apprater.net and is the controller for personal data described here. Contact: [email protected].

Data we collect

  • App submissions: your name, email address, product name, description, platform, tags, app and image URLs, submission time, and review status.
  • Product comments and updates: your name, email address, comment text, selected note type, submission time, moderation status, and—when applicable—whether an administrator verified you as a product representative.
  • Contact messages: your name, email address, subject, message, and the technical information needed to deliver the request.
  • Analytics, only after consent: Google Analytics may receive device/browser details, approximate location derived from IP, pages viewed, referrer, interactions, and identifiers stored in analytics cookies.
  • Administration: an authorized administrator’s Google account email and session information used to secure the moderation area.
  • Payments: PayPal processes promotion subscriptions and donations. AppRater may receive transaction references and status, but does not receive your full card or bank details.
  • Basic server logs: hosting infrastructure may temporarily record IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp, and security/error information.

Why we use it

  • To review, publish, administer, and respond to submissions and messages, and to provide requested promotion services.
  • To operate, secure, troubleshoot, and prevent abuse of the site based on our legitimate interests.
  • To comply with legal, accounting, and dispute-resolution obligations.
  • To measure aggregate site usage with Google Analytics only with your consent. You can refuse or withdraw that consent at any time.

Sharing and service providers

Data is shared only as needed with service providers acting for AppRater or as independent controllers: DigitalOcean for hosting, Brevo for transactional/contact email, Google for consented Analytics and restricted admin sign-in, and PayPal for payments and donations. We may also disclose data when legally required or needed to protect rights and security. We do not sell personal data.

Some providers may process data outside your country, including the EEA. Where required, transfers rely on adequacy decisions, contractual safeguards, or another lawful transfer mechanism offered by the provider.

Publication and links

Approved product information—such as product name, description, platform, tags, and URLs—may become public. Approved comments may publish the author name, comment text, date, and note type; verified updates may also display a Product team label. Email addresses are used for moderation and are not intentionally published. The archive links to independent third-party sites whose privacy practices are their own.

Retention

Contact messages, product submissions, and comment or update submissions are kept only as long as reasonably needed for review, correspondence, archive administration, security, legal, and accounting purposes. Published product records and approved notes may remain as part of the historical archive until corrected or removed. Analytics retention follows the settings configured in Google Analytics. Payment records may be retained for the legally required accounting period.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing; receive portable data; withdraw consent; and complain to your local data-protection authority. Email us to make a request. We may need to verify your identity, and legal exceptions can apply.

Security and children

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. AppRater is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. Contact us if you believe a child submitted personal information.

Changes

We may update this policy as the service, providers, or law changes. The date above identifies the current version; material changes will be highlighted where appropriate.
