Incident documentation apps

Pocket Retainer

Pocket Retainer is mobile legal-information, incident-documentation, and personal-safety software for iOS and Android. It combines a searchable library of 700+ federal, state, and county laws and rights resources with video, audio, and photo capture; a private PIN-protected encrypted Vault for recordings, files, notes, metadata, and available location information; AI-powered situation-aware informational guidance; and a Document Assistant for practical agreements. Supported discreet-recording workflows can reduce the need to keep the live recording screen visible, and captured content is designed to be preserved if the app unexpectedly closes during an active recording. Common use cases include traffic stops, accidents, civil-rights encounters, disputes, unsafe situations, public interactions, and private transactions. Pocket Retainer is not a law firm, does not provide legal advice, is not an emergency service, and is intended for users age 18+. Unlike a single-purpose recorder or static rights guide, Pocket Retainer combines preparation, recording, secure organization, AI-powered informational guidance, and practical document creation in one experience. Users choose when and how selected material is shared.
